- Welcome -Welcome to St Barnabas Church, off Pimlico Road (between Victoria Coach Station and Sloane Square). contact details and map here
St Barnabas Church is an Anglican Church which is very welcoming: please come and join us! We have a number of services and events each week. We are a small (and growing) inclusive church community - welcoming all. Our parish has been ‘serving and encouraging’ people living, working and passing through the area since 1850. It is a beautiful Grade 1 listed church - and well worth a visit. We are actively involved in our parish school and we are seeking greater engagement with the local and wider community. Our Parish Priest (Priest-in-Charge / like a Vicar), Fr John Pearson-Hicks joined St Barnabas in September 2015 and since becoming the ‘full-time’ priest (Sept 2017) we have been able to be open more regularly and hold more events and services. If you would like to find out more about baptisms and weddings, or if you would just like to have a conversation about what we are doing, please don’t hesitate to contact him directly on john.pearson-hicks@london.anglican.org to arrange a time to talk. |
Regular Events in St Barnabas Said Mass - Lunchtime Services takes place at 12:45 most Wednesdays and last around 30 minutes Bring-Your-Own Lunch most Wednesdays after Mass and before the Barnabas Sewing Bees who begin at 2pm - this is open to anyone who would like to come along. We are currently making 'kneelers' but you are welcome to bring your own knitting, sewing etc. T@3 on Wednesdays is a community tea open to anybody who lives, works, worships or is passing through the parish. We are usually open from 2pm until around 4:30pm. Do pop in for a cup of tea or coffee, a cake and a chat. Compline is usually said in church / online each Thursday at 8:30pm. During August there will break and Compline will restart on Thursday 1st September 2022. Open Saturdays We are usually open from 10am-1.30pm each Saturday. Bible Study – The St Barnabas Bible Study group meets on the first Tuesday of each month. Newcomers welcome. For more information do check with Fr John. Our next meeting is on 7th June 2022 (in church) starting with a light supper at 7pm. We end promptly at 9pm. West London Area TSSF (Franciscans) Since 2018 The Third Order Society of St Francis have been regularly holding their meetings at St Barnabas. For more information please look at their website www.tssf.org.uk. Their next meeting will take place on Saturday 25th June 2022 in St Barnabas. On Saturdays Chelsea Canines are accepting bookings for puppy training. See here for details on their website. https://chelseacanines.co.uk/ - This has reopened and operating from our Church Hall on Saturday mornings. Heritage Covid Recovery Fund (Lottery Heritage Fund)
St Barnabas has been in receipt of a Covid Recovery Fund which has gone towards the costs of keeping your parish church 'operational' (March-October 2021). This included things like covering the costs of our insurance, some of our bills and things like the "kneeler kits" to encourage volunteers. Some of this can be seen on Wednesday afternoons - St Barnabas Sewing Bees. It has also paid for a new Church History Brochure which will be available soon. For Sale
We have a small range of greetings cards, postcards and good quality tea towels are available for sale. We can accept orders by email or in person - for more information contact Fr John - john.pearson-hicks@london.anglican.org All proceeds to the restoration fund.
