Welcome to St Barnabas Church, off Pimlico Road
(between Victoria Coach Station and Sloane Square).  contact details and map here

St Barnabas Church is an Anglican Church which is welcoming to all: come and join us! We have a number of services and events each week.  We are usually 30-40 of us in church on Sunday morning and we would consider ourselves to be a welcoming inclusive church community.  Hospitality is at the core of our service to and encouragement of one another: the visitor, the regular, the occasional, the questioner and the doubter.

Our  parish has been ‘serving and encouraging’ people living, working and passing through the area since 1850.  It is a beautiful Grade 1 listed church - and well worth a visit.  We are actively involved in our parish school and with the local and wider community in Pimlico and Belgravia.

Our Parish Priest (Priest-in-Charge / like a Vicar) is Fr John Pearson-Hicks who joined St Barnabas in September 2015 and became our ‘full-time’ parish priest (Sept 2017).

We are a parish which seeks to serve and encourage all God's people.

If you would like to find out more about baptisms, weddings, and funerals or if you would just like to have a conversation about what we are doing, please contact Fr John directly [email protected] to arrange a time to talk.

Fr John Pearson-Hicks writes...
We hope that you find what you need when looking around our website.  If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact us.

How would I describe St Barnabas Church?  A place of encouragement and service.  A genuinely friendly and welcoming community where people can be as involved as they feel called to be.  Women and men play an active part in all aspects of parish life.

On 30 June 2025 The Bishop of London licenced The Revd Ruwani Gunawardene to the parish of St Barnabas for one year.  Revd Ruwani has served three years of her curacy at St James the Less, Vauxhall Bridge Road, and has joined us for her fourth year.

The Revd Dr Linda Ulrich was ordained deacon by the Bishop of London and will serve her Title Post (Assistant Curate) amongst us.

Over the last three years it has been a joy to have The Revd Theodora Jejey as an Assistant Curate in the parish.  On Sunday 11 May 2025 Revd Theodora completed her curacy.  Revd Theodora remains licensed to the parish but is currently working in The Northumbria Community.

There are a small number of families with children in the congregation, and they take part in various aspects in the service on Sundays.  We have a wonderful  parish primary school which welcomes children of all faiths and of none.

Whilst the word 'inclusive' can be used in different ways and for different reasons, I would say we are 'inclusive' because Jesus calls us to welcome everybody.  We are a dog friendly parish too! A number of the congregation bring their dogs to services on a regular basis.

Feel free to contact me directly by phone, or email, if you would like to know more about parish life or faith matters.

Heritage Covid Recovery Fund (Lottery Heritage Fund)
St Barnabas has been in receipt of a Covid Recovery Fund which went towards the costs of keeping the parish church 'operational' (March-October 2021).  This included things like covering the costs of our insurance, some of our bills and things like the "kneeler kits" to encourage volunteers. Some of this can be seen on Wednesday afternoons - St Barnabas Sewing Bees.  It has also paid for a new Church History Brochure (Church Guide) which is available in church.  Copies can be posted.
